ALSTOM Wins Major Hydro Order in India

ALSTOM has won an order worth 50 million to supply
Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd, India (JPVL) with equipment for
a new 4 x 100 MW Vishnuprayag hydro power plant to be built on
the Alaknanda river in Uttaranchal state.

The contract was signed today in New Delhi in the presence
of François Loos, French Minister for Foreign Trade ,
Pierre Bilger, Chairman of ALSTOM, senior representatives from
ALSTOM, JPVL and the French embassy.

The plant is being built by JPVL on a BOO
(Build-Own-Operate) basis and is one of the few large IPPs in
the hydro sector in India. Civil works are well advanced.

ALSTOM will supply and supervise erection of turbines,
governing systems, spherical valves, butterfly valves,
generators, static excitation system, bus ducts and
computerised power plant control and monitoring systems.

ALSTOMs manufacturing facilities in Grenoble and
Belfort, France, and in India will supply the equipment and
components.

On completion in December 2006, the Vishnuprayag hydro power
plant is expected to meet the increasing demand for electricity
in northern India.
