Syntus, a public-transportation company in the Achterhoek
region of the eastern Netherlands, has ordered three two-car
CORADIA LINT regional trains in a contract worth 7 million
euros.

The new trains will join Syntus’s fleet of 20 CORADIA
LINT trains. The order will reinforce the fleet as the company
begins to offer service on the Zutphen-Hengelo-Oldenzaal line, a
recent concession for Syntus. Delivery of the trains is scheduled
to be complete by the end of 2003.

The 41-meter-long, two-car trainsets have 146 seats and room
to carry 115 standing passengers, who can board the train easily
since the floor is at the stations’ platform level. The
lightweight CORADIA LINT is an environmentally friendly train,
with low emission and sound levels.

The most recently delivered CORADIA LINT for Syntus, its 20th,
was inaugurated at the InnoTrans exhibition in Berlin, where it
was on display September 24-27, 2002. The occasion also marked
the 100th vehicle of the type built by ALSTOM at its plant in
Salzgitter, Germany.

CORADIA LINT trains have been in service on the Syntus network
since June 2000.

With more than 35 product lines and a presence in over 60
countries, ALSTOM's Transport Sector offers cutting-edge
products and services to four distinct types of customers:
urban transit authorities and operators; intercity passenger
rail operators and rolling stock owners; rail freight
operators; and intercity railway infrastructure owners.
ALSTOM's Transport Sector, with 4.4 billion euros in sales in
2001, is among the world's leading suppliers to the railway
industry.
