ALSTOM wins orders worth 108 million euros in Italy

In two orders worth more 108 million euros, ALSTOM is
supplying bogies, transformers and auxiliary converters for 60
new ETR 500 high-speed locomotives and is upgrading 15 ET 480
tilting trains for Italys railway operator,
Trenitalia.

ETR 480
The 15 PENDOLINO ETR 480 tilting trains are being upgraded
to be able to run on new 25kV 50Hz lines between Rome and Naples
as well as on existing 3kV lines. The order is worth 48 million
euros. Delivery is scheduled for 2007.

ETR 500
In a separate, 330 million euro contract with the Trevi
consortium, Trenitalia has ordered 60 new dual-voltage
locomotives for PENDOLINO ETR 500 tilting trains. The share of
work among the consortium members was settled in December
2002.

ALSTOMs share amounts to 60 million euros for the
supply of bogies, transformers and auxiliary converters. The work
will be carried out at ALSTOMs factories in Sesto and
Savigliano.

The other consortium members are Ansaldobreda, which will
supply body shells, traction equipment and bogies; Firema, which
will supply body shells and traction equipment; and Bombardier,
which will supply electrical equipment.

Delivery is scheduled to begin in 2005 and be complete by the
end of 2007.

The Trevi consortium was established in 1986 to supply
high-speed tilting trains for the Italian network.
