ALSTOM has won an order for a 43 MW natural gas-fired GTX100 industrial gas turbine, to be used in a cogeneration application in connection to an existing boiler belonging to the Infraserv company at the Höchst industrial park on the outskirts of Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

The customer is Infraserv GmbH & Co.-Höchst KG, a leading site operator and industrial service provider based in Frankfurt. A subsidiary of Infraserv in Gendorf, Infraserv-Bayernwerk, is already 50% owner of a well-functioning GTX100 cogeneration plant in Gendorf, Germany.

In addition to the gas turbine itself, ALSTOM's scope of supply covers erection and commissioning. Civil works and electrical installation will be taken care of by the customer. A seven-year preventive maintenance contract has also been agreed upon with the customer. The plant is scheduled to be in operation by the end of this year.

In the cogeneration application, the exhaust gases from the gas turbine will be fed into the existing boiler with a capacity of around 300 ton/hour of high pressure steam. The remaining oxygen in the gas turbine exhaust gases will be burned in the boiler combustion chamber, which will be modified accordingly.

Since its launch in Sweden in 1997, the GTX100 has been supplied to several countries worldwide for a variety of different applications, particularly to the USA (peaking and combined cycle), Western Europe (cogeneration and combined cycle) and also to Russia for combined cycle with district heating.
