The 1st International Conference dedicated to suburban transport will be held in Paris, organised by French industry magazine Le Rail.
The English/French language conference will bring together rail operators and industrialists as well as representatives of local and national rail networks to discuss the needs of small, medium and large towns.
Topics to be discussed include the solutions found or envisaged to deal with the growth of towns outside their historic boundaries.
With  growing urbanization and the extension of suburban areas, solutions must be found for mass transport needs and these solutions must also respect the environment.

Four sessions will cover:
1. Cities and their solutions to the suburban challenge
2. Railway solutions for suburban public transport
3. The state and operation of suburban public transport
4. Questions for suburban transport

François Coart, Commercial Director of ALSTOM Transport France, will participate in session two.
