Pascal Bidan, ALSTOM’s Project Manager, was joined by
Pat Kelly, General Manager Technical CONNEX Melbourne, and Brett
Baker, Project Manager CONNEX Melbourne, to ensure a smooth
departure. The three cars will take to the high seas for a
journey lasting 8 weeks before they arrive on Australian soil.
They will then be taken to CONNEX’s Bayswater depot, where
they will be assembled ready to perform a rigourous testing
program over the coming months.

A total of 58 3-car trains will be introduced progressively by
CONNEX throughout their Melbourne network. The first of these new
trains is expected to be in service in December 2002.

For more information about the project and the
X’TRAPOLIS
