ALSTOM is also to provide maintenance and repairs for the
trains under a 15-year service agreement. The combined value of
the supply and maintenance contract is approximately 60 million
euros. The 16 2-car diesel multiple units will be used on
passenger rail lines between Osnabrück, Bremen and
Wilhelmshaven in north-west Germany to meet increased passenger
volume.

In addition, an optional contract valued at approximately 100
million euros is for the supply and maintenance of a further 30
2-car DMUs, identical to the initial order.

The vehicles for this new firm order are identical to 23
CORADIA LINT 41 trains already supplied and maintained by ALSTOM,
which have been in successful commercial operation since November
2000. The new trains will be built at ALSTOM’s industrial
facilities in Salzgiter, Germany. The first six trainsets will be
delivered in June 2003 and the remainder will be delivered by the
end of 2003.

The CORADIA LINT regional train offers passenger rail
operators a wide scope of choice: variable length, different
traction systems and individual interior layouts. It is used
primarily for connections with high traffic density between
secondary urban centers and as a city express train for commuter
services.

ALSTOM’s Transport Sector, with sales of 4.4 billion
euros and a 17% market share, is a leading supplier of rolling
stock, signaling, services and railway systems to the rail
industry world-wide.
