ALSTOM has been awarded orders for three new combined cycle
power plants at Perlis in Malaysia, at Al Hidd in Bahrain, and
at Kwinana in Australia. The projects involve a total of seven
GT13E2 gas turbines and have a combined value of approximately
820 million euros.

The orders are for the turnkey supply of ALSTOM s KA13E2
Combined Cycle Power Plants. The GT13E2 gas turbine is a
proven, high reliability, machine with low environmental
emissions, utilizing the unique EV (EnVironmental) burner
system. The GT13E2 fleet of over 60 operating units has
achieved more than 1,000,000 fired hours.

Alexis Fries, President of the Power Sector of ALSTOM,
commented: 'We are pleased that these customers have chosen
ALSTOM turbines. These three orders are the results of the
particular efforts to promote our mid-range turbines through
our extensive international sales network.'

Perlis, Malaysia

Teknologi Tenaga Perlis Consortium Sdn. Bhd. (TTPC) has
awarded ALSTOM a turnkey contract for over 330 million euros
for a 675MW KA13E2 combined-cycle power plant. The site is
located in the state of Perlis, in the northwestern part of
Malaysia.

ALSTOM will be responsible for engineering, procurement and
construction of the plant, which is scheduled to commence
operations by March 2003.

As part of the turnkey package, ALSTOM will supply three
GT13E2 gas turbines, one steam turbine, four generators, the
complete electrical equipment, switchyards, the overall power
plant control system as well as the balance of plant
infrastructure.

This contract award follows an order won recently by ALSTOM
to expand Lumut Power Plant, the largest combined-cycle plant
in Malaysia.

Hidd, Bahrain

The Ministry of Electricity & Water of the State of
Bahrain has awarded a letter of intent to ALSTOM for a turnkey
contract, valued at over 350 million euros, for a 630 MW KA13E2
combined-cycle power plant. This follows the Al Hidd I Simple
Cycle Desalination Plant and will be located at Al Hidd in the
State of Bahrain.

ALSTOM will supply three GT13E2 gas turbines and a steam
turbine that will be used for a combination of desalination and
power supply. ALSTOM will be responsible for the engineering,
procurement and construction of the plant, which is scheduled
to commence initial operation by June 2002.

Kwinana, Australia

Western Power Corporation placed the order worth more than
140 million euros, for ALSTOM to build a 240MW gas fired
combined cycle power plant in Kwinana, Western Australia.

ALSTOM will be responsible for the engineering, procurement
and construction of the KA13E2-1 Reference Power Plant.
Commercial operation is scheduled for the end of 2003.

ALSTOM will supply the GT13E2 gas turbine, a single steam
turbine, two generators, an HRSG, transformers and balance of
plant equipment.

The plant will be erected on the existing Kwinana site and
will take advantage of existing infrastructure, but will be
constructed as an independent operating facility. The new
combined cycle power plant is part of an asset replacement
program to update older, less efficient facilities with state
of the art combined cycle gas turbine plants. The plant will
replace Kwinana Stage B (two conventional natural gas fired 120
MW thermal generating units) with this 240 MW (nominal)
combined cycle power plant.
