Areva T&D India Ltd Announces Q2 & Half yearly results of 2011

NOIDA, August 8, 2011

Areva T&D India Ltd, the leader in the Indian transmission and distribution sector, today announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2011 and half year 2011, following approval by the Companys Board of Directors.

For Q2 2011:

  • Sales Revenue Increases by 12% to 9,906 MINR
  • Operating Profit Decreased by 9% to 554 MINR
  • Order Backlog remains stable at 51,497 MINR

Half Year 2011 results:

  • Sales increased by 20% to 19,820 MINR,
  • Order intake increased by 9% to 22,153 MINR, and
  • Operating Profit increased by 41% to 1,145 MINR compared to the same period last year.

Areva T&D India flagged off Indias first 1200kV Capacitor Voltage Transformer (CVT), which was designed, manufactured and tested at its state-of-the-art facility in Hosur for Power Grids Ultra High Voltage Test Station at Bina, MP.

With the recent commissioning of Delhi Transcos 220kV Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Substation, Areva T&D India leads with the highest number of installed GIS bays in the country. The company was the first to introduce the manufacture of high voltage GIS in India in 2009, at its Padappai site in Chennai.

Mr. Rathin Basu, Managing Director of Areva T&D India Ltd, said: The T&D market

continues to be very challenging primarily due to delays in customer projects, which has resulted in falling market volume, increased competition and fall in prices. However, we continue to remain successful in the mid-size segment winning orders both in private and utilities market. Thanks to our strong position in the high technology domain we have a good backlog.

However, Areva T&D India will continue to operate under the Areva T&D name until the appropriate judicial process, according to Indian regulations, have been completed.
