The award ceremony took place at the National Rail Awards in
London, the "Oscars of the rail industry".
The West Coast Main Line is the busiest rail artery in Europe
and links London and Glasgow in Scotland. The line
infrastructure has undergone a major upgrade in recent years
and has seen the succesful introduction of the UK's flagship
fleet of trains, the Alstom-built Pendolino, operated by
VirginTrains.
Alstom also delivers a complete service regime for our customer
to ensure the 53-strong fleet is fit for service every day.
This has involved taking over, upgrading and integrating
Traincare Centres the length of the West Coast Main Line.
Significant investment has funded their transformation from the
original depots into the world-class centres that they are
today, helping Virgin Trains achieve their best-ever
punctuality figures.
