President Sarkozy announces major projects for the rail
sector during a visit to Alstoms Ornans site

After touring the traction motor and alternator
manufacturing plant, President Sarkozy spoke to site workers
and local representatives. Highlighting the Alstom
Group’s sound health, President Sarkozy promised
significant investments in major upcoming projects, in
particular in high-speed trains and urban transport, as a
strategy for maintaining jobs in France. “Alstom is doing
very well,” he commented. “We build TGVs. Tram and
other public transport projects are underway everywhere, and at
the end of April I will be announcing some very important new
projects in rail transport.” He also indicated that he
would like to see the East branch of the Rhine-Rhône LGV
line completed very soon.
