The agreement is in line with Alstom Transports
strategy of improving its profitability through the development
of its non rolling-stock activities and will serve to
strengthen a collaboration entered into at the beginning of
2006. The complementary nature of Alstom and SAFRAs
activities will enable the two companies to better respond to
the needs of local government in respect of the renovation and
repair of rolling stock. This is a market that is expected to
experience strong growth in coming years, offering numerous
commercial opportunities to the two partners.

For over 20 years now, SAFRA has been developing its expertise
in the repair of buses. Over the past 5 years, the company has
diversified into the modernisation of all types of urban
rolling stock. Alstom Transport and SAFRA have already worked
together on a project to repair a trainset belonging to the
metro system of the city of Orleans, following an accident. In
December 2006, the two companies were awarded the contract to
modernize the 38 trainsets that operate on the VAL automatic
metro system in Lille.
