The award of EHS trophies to the sites at Charleroi
(Belgium), Reichshoffen (France), Singapore, Sao Paolo (Brazil)
and Valenciennes (France) came at the end of two weeks of
internal activities, between January 15 and 25, 2007.

This event, organized for the benefit of Alstom
Transports 26,000 employees, was designed to mobilize
all the companys sites with a view to reducing the
frequency rate of accidents at work (number of absence
accidents/number of hours worked).

This rate, which currently stands at 8, has been cut by
two-thirds in three years, allowing ALSTOM Transport to
realistically set itself the objective of becoming, within two
years, the reference point on this issue within the rail
sector, with a rate of 5.

During the companys EHS days, sites are free to
choose the themes and kinds of initiatives they introduce,
based on the activities they perform and the specific nature of
their environment. This year, the activities chosen included
conferences on cardiovascular, electrical and chemical risk,
training on domestic safety and in measures to protect
employees in the event of fire, exhibitions on the risks linked
with tobacco, alcohol and quizzes on the topic of safety.

Efforts in this area will continue throughout 2007, with the
implementation of an approach led by management of the company.
Most notably, the plan includes the training of all management
committees in risk prevention, a review of high-risk activities
and better integration of the EHS objectives by
project teams.

EHS days form part of the Care for People
approach put in place two years ago by the group. This approach
is designed, in particular, to offer company employees a
working environment in which their health and safety is fully
respected.
