ALSTOM has won a 35 million euro contract to supply electrical and mechanical equipment to the Qiaogong hydro power station in Chinas Guangxi Autonomous Region.
The contract, signed with Guangxi Fangyuan Power Co., Ltd., is for the delivery of four 57MW bulb turbine/generator units and associated accessories. With runner diameter measuring 7.4 meters, the bulb units will be among the largest in the world.
ALSTOMs hydro factory in Tianjin, China, is in charge of the project management and manufacture of the equipment. The first unit is scheduled for operation in 2008 and the last in 2009.
Wan Duan Yang, Deputy General Manager of the Tianjin factory, said: We have established an unrivalled track record in winning bulb orders in China, thanks to ALSTOMs solid design and manufacturing technology in this field. In the last few years, we have sold 34 units ranging in output from 9MW to 57MW for projects such as Nina, Zhi Gang La Ka and Tongwan.
