E.ON halted their ongoing double outage at Connahs Quay Power Station in North Wales in order to hold a Safety Day on 20th May, to which Alstom and all contractors on site were asked to contribute.

The Safety Day provided a great opportunity for Alstom to promote its commitment to a safe working culture and support for the corporate EHS Target Zero campaign.  To deliver these messages in the most effective way, Alstom hosted an exhibition stand, displaying the Thermal Services Brothers Keeper philosophy as well as the successful Putting People to Work process.  Other topics promoted on the stand included safe driving, stress and relaxation and rescuing from height.

A hazard awareness quiz on the Alstom stand proved popular to visitors, where five staged risks within the workshop had to be spotted and entered into a prize draw to win a Bosch drill set.  Neil Baker, Alstom Site Manager, ended the day by being 'dunked' in water to raise £419 for a local charity.

The Safety Day proved a great success, attracting over 400 attendees from around 12 contracting companies interested in promoting their EHS awareness.
