ALSTOM has been awarded a contract by Energi E2 to supply its innovative
flue gas desulphurisation technology, FLOWPAC, and a Selective
Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system to the Amager Power Plant, located near
the Danish capital, Copenhagen.

The FLOWPAC flue gas desulphurisation plant and SCR system will be installed to remove sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides on a 150 MW coal-fired boiler also designed to burn fuel oil and straw. The FLOWPAC will ensure a removal efficiency of over 97% of sulphur dioxide.

FLOWPAC, ALSTOMs innovative turbulent bed, limestone forced-oxidation wet flue gas desulphurisation technology offers significant advantages over the conventional WFGD absorber technology. For difficult applications, such as fuels with high or varying sulphur content and strict emission requirements, it represents a breakthrough in performance and flexibility, but also in investment, operation and maintenance costs. FLOWPAC additionally offers higher removal of sulphur trioxide and particulate matter.

This is the second order ALSTOM has recently won for its innovative FLOWPAC technology, following the contract awarded by Lietuvos Elektrine for the supply of five FLOWPACs for its Elektrenai Power Plant in Lithuania.
