The order was concluded in the context of RATP’s
automatisation programme for line 1 connecting the east of
Paris with the west (Château de Vincennes – La
Défense).

These new metro trains called “MP05” will have
the same technical characteristics as the “MP 89”
metro trains which are currently in service on lines 1 and 14
of the Parisian network (an uninterrupted gangway throughout
all 6 cars in each train, a smooth ride…).

They will allow compliance with the required performance and
reliability specifications and  provide passengers with a
high level of comfort and completely new interior design and
fittings.

Five ALSTOM sites, all of which are located in France, will
be involved in this contract: manufacture and integration will
be carried out at Valenciennes by the ALSTOM Transport’s
Centre of Excellence for metros, which will receive the bogies
delivered by the Le Creusot site, traction equipment from
Tarbes and the on-board information system supplied by the
Villeurbanne site.

The first metros will be delivered mid-June 2008; the last
trains being scheduled for the end of 2010.
