ALSTOM chosen to supply the first Driverless Train Control
System of Beijing Airport Link in China for the Olympic

China, Beijing - ALSTOM Transport, a global leader in
high-speed and integrated rail solutions, has been gaining
momentum for its Communication-based Train Control System
(CBTC) across Asia Pacific. One of many milestone awards
from key customers in Asia Pacific is the new line linking
airport to the city in Beijing.
The Beijing Mass Transit airport link will be the first
fully automated operation line in China for which ALSTOM
consortium* has won recently, the contract for the supply of
the Communication-based Train Control System (CBTC). This new
line of 28 km, 4 stations and one depot will allow passengers
to reach Beijing downtown up to 110km per hour.
The airport link will be in service in mid 2008 for the
Beijing Olympic Games. ALSTOM and its joint venture
partner, CASCO Signal Ltd, will provide advanced URBALISTM
solution, a radio-based train control system including: the
CBTC, the spread spectrum Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
for Train Control, interlocking, trackside equipment, as well
as the Operating Control Center. The high level of redundancy
in all parts of the system will ensure continuous traffic in
all situations.
ALSTOM has already supplied the CBTC Driverless Train
Control system for Singapore's North East Metro Line (NEL), the
first fully automatic heavy metro system in the world. The NEL
has been in operation since 20 June 2003. Other major
CBTC ongoing projects include Lausanne M2 (Switzerland)
Driverless line, Singapore's Circle Line, the largest automatic
metro line in the world, and, in China, Beijing Line 2 Train
Control Modernization.
ALSTOM also have an extensive experience in airport link
projects including Athens and Hong-Kong, as well as the ongoing
project in Korea for Seoul 's Incheon International Airport
Rail Road.
