Dublin selects ALSTOM's CITADIS tram sets

ALSTOM has won an order worth 30 million Euro from Dublin
LRT for 20 tram sets, with an option for an additional 14 sets,
to run on a new line currently under construction in the Irish
capital.

The CITADIS 300 vehicles, with asynchronous traction, are
approximately 30 meters long, 2.40 meters wide, and can carry
up to 170 passengers. The trams feature low access running the
length of the car to facilitate passenger flow. Delivery of the
order will begin in October 2001 and continue, at a rate of two
tram sets per month, until completion in May 2002.

With the CITADIS family of modular trams, the operator has
an efficient, economic and reliable transport solution, based
on studies carried out in co-operation with many operators. It
uses the ONIX 800 traction system, notable for its low running
and maintenance costs.

The CITADIS family also offers many possibilities for
customising the vehicles, from stylised exteriors to interior
furnishing and design.

This order follows a string of recent successes for ALSTOM
in the European tramway market; in France in Saint-Etienne,
Montpellier, Orléans, Lyon, and Valenciennes; and in
Germany, in Hanover, Dusseldorf, Magdeburg, Darmstadt and
Wurzburg.
